Engineered with WINDSTOPPER® laminate and a micro-check fleece backer, the Dakota Vest blocks skin-piercing icy winds as an outer layer or acts as a cozy insulation layer.
"I wear a Dakota Vest almost every day in the early season. Worn with a Traverse layer, the Dakota Vest is perfect for those chilly mornings when an extra layer is nice but a full blown jacket unnecessary. As the season progresses, the Dakota Vest is still one of my favorite pieces or gear. All around, this is a phenomenal layering piece."
—Matt Brimmer, Waterfowl Athlete
The Dakota Vest can operate as either an outer layer choking off chilly winds, or as a toasty insulation layer. The key is the WINDSTOPPER® Softshell, which minimizes the effects of windchill, paired with a micro check backer that provides light insulation.
A high collar warms and protects the neck. High hand-warmer pockets and traditional zippered hand pockets give you flexibility whether you’re wearing waders, bibs or pants. Lanyard loops keep your calls organized, and you can even stash them in a low tubular pocket to keep them from swinging around on early morning slogs to the blind.
WINDSTOPPER® PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY WINDSTOPPER® products shelter hunters from the adverse effects of bone-chilling winds. The WINDSTOPPER™ membrane works with our base layers to prevent overheating and perspiration build-up by allowing moisture vapor to easily escape. WINDSTOPPER® fabrics offer soft, lightweight weather protection in one versatile and durable garment. Owing to its total windproofness and maximum breathability, WINDSTOPPER® products will keep customers comfortable longer across a wide range of weather conditions and activities.

WATERFOWL The best waterfowl hunting can take place in the worst weather. Armed with this understanding, we developed systems centered around the most effective outerwear fabric technologies available and worked our way in. Insulating layers were designed to maximize warmth with minimal bulk to enable rapid mounting of a shotgun and fluid swings. Like all Sitka systems, next-to-skin moisture management is key to the functionality of all system pieces and are essential for maximized comfort. The GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment Waterfowl pattern utilized is optimized for typical approach vectors and has factored in the constant movement of ducks and geese as well as the unique eye physiology of waterfowl. Concealment, mobility, and weather protection build the foundation. This is how we define Waterfowl.
