Chemically Imbalanced. That Must Mean You Have
Too Much Gink® On One Side Of Your Fly.
You’ve been called a wacko. Obsessed. Barking loony. Okay, maybe even worse. What a small price to pay for an Avid Series® fly rod. This extensive selection of refined, moderate action rods covers a wide array of trout fishing applications. They feature IPC® technology and load progressively down the blank making them ideal for protecting light tippets. Then there’s the beautiful pearl green finish. Yeah, who’s calling whom names now?
This is a great rod for trout water. I've been using the 8'6" 5-weight, and it can cast dries with delicacy but it has the backbone to push a double-nymph rig with split shot out there as well. Compared to the Redington Classic Trout, which a buddy fishes, I find that this rod has both more power but also a more medium action.
The medium action isn't the modern fly rod that most are used to finding in fly shops these days, but its a rod that has a classic feel with a modern touch. With a Rio Gold fly line, it loads well at close and medium ranges, and with a well-timed double-haul, I can get some nice distance as well. I favor this for an all-round trout rod.
The only thing I'd change, after fishing it for a year, is to add 6 inches to the length and get a 9', 4-piece rod. I have ended up fishing larger waters than originally anticipated, and the extra length would be useful. Other than that, I am very happy.
